Uzbekistan has 13 regions or provinces ranging
from Kazakhstan in the north, Kyrgyzstan in the east, Turkmenistan in the west
and Afghanistan in the south.
Each region is interesting in its own way. Here

The territory of ancient Khorezm - one of the most important
states of ancient oriental civilizations. Great scientists and philosophers
lived and worked in this area - Ibn Sina, Muhhamad Al-Khorezmiy, Abu Raihan
Al-Biruniy and many others. |

Not many historical monuments had preserved here until present
times, but still there are a few of them which might be worth for seeing
and visiting. |

According to scientific researches, Andijan was founded more
then 2000 years ago and through the ages have been the eastern gates to
Ferghana valley, unfortunately the only architectural monument here is survived
in earthquake huge Djami madrassah. There are also a few holy spots. |

Bukhara is famous as an open air museum, a centre of international
tourism, which was placed on the historic crossroads of the Great Silk Road.
Here the one can find numerous historical and architectural monuments as
inside as well as around the city and neighboring areas. |

The region of Djizzak is known for its natural spots and abundance
of wild life, there are two natural reserves - Nuratin and Zaomin. There
is also a lake of Aidarkul located in hollow of Arnasai and called as geographical
miracle. |

Kokand town is probably the worth known town in Uzbekistan,
it used to be the capital of very powerful Kokand Khanate, which occupied
the largest part of Ferghana valley.One of the most popular places of tourist
interest here is the palace of Hudoyarhan- the last governor of the state. |

The region of Kashkadarya with the centre in the town of Karshi
dated to 15 century, were located on the historic crossroads of the Great
Silk Road. The town of Shahrisabz means "green city" and known
as the home town of Tamerlaine also located in this area. The age of architectural
monuments here reaches 500 years.

Khorezm- was the ancient statement on the territory of Central
Asia. First time it was mentioned in "Avesta"- the holy book of
zaroostrizm. Architectural centre of ancient Horezm is the town of Khiva
- the capitale of ancient Khivinian Khanate. Khiva is in fact the open air
museum, the only well preserved town-monument of Central Asia.

The places of tourist interest in Namangan region are mausoleum
of Hadja-Amin and Madrassah of mulla Kyrgyz. |

The region of Navoi named after the great Uzbek poet, philosopher
and statesman Alisher Navoi. Mostly the region is covered by Kyzyl-kum desert.
The only historical sites here are located in the town of Karmon, they are:
mausoleums of Mirsaid Bahroma, Hanaka Kasym Shaiha, the mosque dated to
10-14 cc A.D. and the ruins of Rabati-Malik caravan serai dated to 11th
century. |

This part of Uzbekistan is not needed to be introduced to
anyone. The area is well known all around the world and included in the
UNESCO list of the most important historical spots in the world along with
ancient towns of Egypt, China, India, Greece, and Italy.

The centre of the region is the town of Termez, which was
founded in 3rd-2nd centuries B.C. Places to see here include Buddhism religious
centres Kara-Tepa and Ayaz-Tepe apparently dated to 3-2 centuries B.C. ,

The region got its name from the single river in the region-
Syrdarya. The area of the region is known for its fishing spots, beautiful
landscapes, and cotton fields. |
